Hot Weather

We’re currently experiencing a spell of hot weather. That’s brought out the dragonflies to hunt over the ponds. This specimen of Libella depressa uses this iron rod by one of the ponds as its favourite perch.

About Geoff Coupe

I'm a British citizen, although I have lived and worked in the Netherlands since 1983. I came here on a three year assignment, but fell in love with the country, and one Dutchman in particular, and so have stayed here ever since. On the 13th December 2006 I also became a Dutch citizen.

Dragonflies, wow!  we don’t get any dragonflies here.  You get all the best bugs.

We are lucky to get a variety of dragonflies around here. Mostly small ones – the Libella depressa is the largest variety that I’ve seen so far.
